Banana & Brazil Superfood Smoothie

I haven't posted a drink recipe in a while so, here is a recipe for a superfood smoothie that we've been enjoying lately. It's a recent variation of our more regular hemp milk green smoothies incorporating some of my favourite superfoods ~ Maca, Reishi and Mesquite.

You can use whatever type of nut milk you like but I find the flavour of the brazils give this smoothie a fuller flavour.

Brazil Nuts are the richest natural source of selenium and a good source of vitamin E.  They also contain Palmitoleic acid and oleic acid which can help to lower 'bad cholesterol' levels and increase 'good cholesterol' levels.

INGREDIENTS

3c Brazil milk

2 Bananas

2t Maca

2t Mesquite

1/2t Reishi Powder

THE HOW TO...

Make your brazil milk ~ 1c brazil nuts : 4c water

Put all ingredients in blender with (strained) brazil milk and blend

If you have a sweet tooth, you may need to add a little extra sweetner of your choice.  The bananas add enough sweetness for me but are probably not enough for most people.

♥ CHIA ♥

Chia & Cocnut Fruit Pie
Even though Chia has been around for a while now, it's pretty new to our diet.  We had lots and lots of chia in the cupboard with many well meaning intentions to get to know all about her but, never quite got around to it.

It was only after Kate Magic's recent visit that I decided I really should get the Chia out and do something with it.

We were missing out on all of the benefits this lovely seed has to offer!

So, I opened the 1kg bag and guess how long it took us to consume the lot.....                     It was all gone within two weeks.
We found that

We LOVE Chia

So what did we do with all the Chia?

The recipe for this chia breakfast was in the  August Newsletter

We had a chia pudding everyday, sometimes milky and creamy and other times filled with fruit.  I liked to have mine mid-morning or for lunch, sometime after I'd finished my couple of litres of daily juice.  Pras enjoyed his for breakfast.

And Oh ~ what can I say?

  Chia crackers

I have to buy more chia soon so I can make more crackers.  I've never made such crackers before.

I'm hooked!

While I've always loved the idea of crackers I'd never loved a cracker before chia came along ♥

The reason I don't usually eat crackers it that they feel heavy in the body, I didn't find this with the chia crackers.  They were light and crunchy and I just couldn't leave them alone.   They disappeared super fast.

We had some Chia for dessert a couple of times too.
That makes it sound like we have meals doesn't it?  Which is slightly misleading.
In the Raw Faerie house there is more of a grazing theme to food, we eat whatever we want when we want it, including desserts.

Chia and coconut fruit pies were the dessert I chose to make with the last of our seeds and it was thoroughly enjoyed.

We found that the Chia was really easy to digest and filling too.  I also love how it just takes on the flavours of the other ingredients.  Eating Chia once a day made me feel great, I had more consistent energy levels throughout the day.

If you would like to know what the benefits of Chia seeds are... why they are good for you... and what their nutritional profile is ~ You can click through to Angela Stockes-Monarch's blog ~ Raw Reform for the details.  They are an amazing source of protein, nutrients and omegas ~ I'm not surprised I feel so great when I eat them daily.

Flapjacks Take Two!

I've received quite a lot of feed back from my flapjacks post a couple of weeks ago, as well as some recipe requests.  It seems that my gorgeous husband is the only (kind-of) raw person who misses flapjacks!

I'm pleased to say that since the first batch I've been playing in the kitchen again and this time we have apple and Sultana Flapjacks.

My taste tester loved them even more than the plainer first version.  Here they are!

I am not sharing the recipe yet but I will share it in the future.  Not sure if it will be on the blog or in my newsletter yet but, it will be shared soon ♥

Frozen Cheesecake anyone?

I have no idea what I should call this cake....

It is frozen, it can be served in slices or scooped like ice-cream and it has this gorgeous cheesecakey thing going on.

The two flavours are white chcolate and berry and they are absolutley divine when swirled together.  It can be made with or without agave but I prefer it without.

I ♥  this in the summer

I'm thinking about offering this at our potluck at the end of the month.  Maybe in some take away tubs :)  If this is of interest, let me know.  It's just an idea at the moment

How Do I Order a Raw Faerie Cake?

Ginger Crunch

Recently there have been quite a few requests for clarification about how to order a Raw Faerie Cake so, I thought it would be good to clarify this with a blog post.

What Cakes are available?
Raw Faerie Cakes are divided into two groups ~ cakes that need to be
collected or delivered and cakes that can be sent through the post.

We are always happy to receive special requests.  We receive frequent orders for birthday cakes and the occasional wedding cake too.  If you see something on the facebook page or blog that you don't see on the cake list, email us and ask about it.

6" Love Bomb Cake
From time to time a run of cake squares are offered through our Facebook page.  These small packs cannot be made to order on demand.   If you would like to buy some Raw Faerie cake by the slice then, keep watch on the newsletters for updates on which cafes and healthfood stores are stocking our treats.

Mini Blueberry Torte
If you would like to receive a list of cakes and treats that you can order directly, email rawfaeriecreations@gmail.com  We will also be posting a full list of cakes in the notes section of the Raw Faerie Facebook page shortly.

How Do I get my Cake?
There are a couple of options;
Chocolate Berry Bliss Cake
1. You can collect your cake from the Raw Faerie House in Lostwithiel
2. We can post your cake to you
3. If your cake is for a special occasion, we may be able to deliver it to you at additional cost
4. If Kylie makes Raw Faerie deliveries to a cafe in your local area, she is happy to bring your order to you on her next visit.

How Do I Place an Order?
Orders are placed by email and payment is by direct bank transfer.  We do not offer paypal because they take a percentage of your payment, by not offering Paypal we are avoiding charging you more for our products.  We request one weeks notice for cake orders.  If you find yourself needing a cake at late notice will will do our best to accomodate your order if we're available to do so.

Raw Faerie Cakes in Archie Browns ~ 4th August!

On Thursday morning, Raw Faerie Cakes will be delivered to Archie Browns in Truro for the first time.  There will be a Raw Chocolate Torte available from the cafe as well as a limited number of  Minty Madness and Love Bomb cake squares too.  Some of the cake squares will be making their way down to Archie's in Penzance and others to the Kneehigh Assylum so please do ask about them if you're out west.

Helen from Archie Brown's is being really supportive in enabling people across Cornwall to buy Raw Faerie Cake through Archies in Truro and Penzance. This is a bit of an experiment though; we're testing the water to measure demand.   If you would like to see Archie's stocking Raw Faerie cakes on a regular basis, make sure you visit this week to let them know that you're interested <3

Just to remind you all, Raw Faerie Cakes are raw, vegan and free from wheat and gluten. Ingredients are organic where possible and fresh ingredients are sourced from local organic farms when in season.  Many Raw Faerie Cakes contain superfoods.  They are made with home made raw flours, chocolates and sprouts.  The ingredients in each cake are unique and some nut-free and cacao free cake options are available.

If you would like the Raw Faerie to bring a cake to Truro especially for you, to coincide with deliveries to Archie Browns, send an email rawfaeriecreations@gmail.com .  The Raw Faerie is happy to create a new cake especially for you if you have special dietary requirments.
